This time, "stem cells" are Fetal

WebMD has a news release on an early on-line publication by Lancet Neurology of a French trial of therapy for Huntington's Disease. I couldn't figure out from the article where the stem cells came from, and do not have a subscription or access to that Journal. So, I did a "Google News" search and found several other news releases.

It turns out that the therapy involves fetal neural stem cell transplants, as related in this MedIndia article:

In this intracerebral cell therapy the investigators grafts replacement striatal neuroblasts and neural precursor cells obtained from electively aborted fetuses into the brains of patients with Huntington's disease.

However, most US websites do not identify the origin of the stem cells. In fact, UPI sometimes calls them "embryonic stem cells" and sometimes "fetal."

Forbes, and WebMD do not mention "embryonic" or "fetal."
