More and More News On No News on Cord Blood

President Bush announced on Thursday, November 2 that $12 Million in Federal dollars will go to support and coordinate six States' cord blood banking and research. On Friday, November 3rd, Governor George Pataki of New York dedicated $10 Million of that State's money to build and fund a research center in Syracuse, focused on banking umbilical cord blood, tissue typing and testing for disease, and research on cord blood stem cells.

There is no news coverage from the New York Times, Washington Post, or USA Today. If you search either publication on line or Google News, you'll find a few scattered TV station and local (Staten Island Times and the Syracuse Post-Standard) newspaper reports. (I couldn't even find anything on the President's own website.)

These stories on top of the lack of coverage of the development of liver and lung tissues from cord blood should be a huge story! Unfortunately, the coverage of the election is overshadowing what should be the trump card in so many elections.

John Kerry is a good man. Pick on someone else!

That's the cartoon, not my comments. I don't edit the cartoon, at all.

Did you read the editorial content on the lack of coverage of the umbilical cord research?
